Nothing Beats the Smell of French Toast
It's Sunday morning, the birds are singing, the sun is rising, and your head is sore... If this feels like you, then you're reading the right post.
Great Harvest Bakery in Newton has put together an easy to follow recipe to get your body ready for the day ahead.
What You'll Need for Great French Toast in Newton
- 6 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 6 slices of Honey Whole Wheat (our favorite)
- 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- Pure maple syrup (optional)
What You'll Need to Do
- Put the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon and salt into a bowl and whisk away! Once it's all mixed together, set the bowl aside, but in handy reach.
- Get out a shallow baking dish and place six slices of Honey Whole Wheat into the dish.
- Now, take the bowl and slowly pour the mixture over the bread until every slice is completely covered. Let this sit for about 10 minutes until the bread has soaked up as much of the mixture as possible.
- Turn the slices over and soak them for another 10 minutes. Getting the mixture into the bread is the key step for this delicious reward.
- Take out a frying pan or skillet, in goes the butter, in goes the vegetable oil, on to a nice medium heat and into the pan with the slices of bread!
- Leave them toast until they are a nice golden brown, probably about two to three minutes each side.
- If you chose the maple syrup, now is its time to shine. Drizzle it all over your toast - sit down - and enjoy!
